Powdered Sugar Frosting for cookies

Powdered Sugar Frosting

This yummy powdered sugar frosting is what makes those Christmas sugar cookies so delicious. My dad likes them best when there is more frosting than cookie. I like this frosting because it can be used thin, as a glaze or you can thicken it up and frost a cookie or a whole cake.

-1 stick butter, melted (1/2 cup)
-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
-1/2 cup milk (I use whole milk but you can get away with skim)
-4 1/2 to 6 1/2 cups powdered sugar, depending on whether you want to glaze or frost cookies and cake

Place your liquid ingredients in a mixing bowl. Blend with your mixer, adding powdered sugar until you reach the desired consistency. I use this recipe for our cut out cookies and I never have any leftovers. We add food coloring to make lots of wild, bright cookies. I also use this recipe in glaze form to make peanut squares and snowballs--just make a regular cake mix in a square pan. When it cools, cut in squares, dip in this frosting and roll in chopped peanuts or coconut. This frosting soaks into the cake and they turn out so delicious, but it is messy to make!
