Tartar Sauce Recipe

Tartar Sauce

The tartar sauce may only be a dip, but it really can make or break your fish dish. I love any food from the ocean, but if a restaurant doesn't have good tartar sauce, I won't order fish. I use this recipe whenever I make fish or homemade french fries (I have to dip) at home, and actually have been known to take a small container with me to one of our local restaurants when I have a taste for fish and don't feel like cooking. Tacky, yes, to be sure, but I do try to hide it from the wait staff and I only do this when I go with my mom or my daughter--of course, now everyone will know! The place has great fish, but awful tartar sauce!

-1 cup salad dressing (I use Miracle Whip Brand)
-1/4 cup dill relish or I use home canned dill pickles , finely chopped
-1/8 cup finely chopped onion
-1/16 teaspoon pepper
-1/8 teaspoon salt

Mix it all together and chill for 15-30 minutes. Serve with baked or deep fried fish, french fries, or it gives great flavor to sandwiches!
